Inocencio Fernnadez weaves together a collection of Inca glyphs
to create a rug of admirable elegance. Fernnadez takes the
glyphs from Inca calendars that tell of the best time to sow,
harvest, and the passing of the seasons. This wool rug is woven
on a traditional loom, in a style unique to the Ayacucho textile

Master artist:
Inocencio Fernnadez
He was born in 1968 in Ayacucho. He specializes in the
making of tapestries and cushions. Inocencio inherited this art at a young age from his parents and
grandparents. For the making of his tapestries, he uses
a unique technique which can not be reproduced by anyone
else.
This Master weaver has participated and won at the Inti
Raymi
National Craft Award, in the years 1991, 1992 and 1993.
He has exhibited his works
in museums in
Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the United States. |
